The full form of DVT is Deep Vein Thrombosis. It is a medical condition which happens usually in the leg area because of the blood clots that have formed in the deep veins. Moreover, these blood clots pose serious health risks as they may break and travel to the lungs further causing a potentially life-threatening condition known as pulmonary embolism.

What is the Main Cause of DVT?

The main cause of DVT is sluggish or slowed blood flow thus leading to the formation of clots. There are some aspects that contribute to DVT like prolonged immobility, surgery, trauma, or injury to the veins. Even long flights and prolonged bed rest can also cause clot formation. Furthermore, there are certain conditions such as obesity, pregnancy, and genetic predispositions that can also increase the risk of developing DVT.
