• 1378 – Daud Shah became the fourth Bahmani Sultan after assassinating Mujahid Shah.
• 1498 – Vasco da Gama arrived at Calicut via sea route becoming the first Indian to reach by sea.

• 1915 – Sabarmati Ashram was founded by Mahatma Gandhi on this day.
• 1992 –  First independent satellite was launched by India

• 1609 – In London, Shakespeare’s Sonnets were published first by publisher Thomas Thorpe.
• 1862 – Former US President Abraham Lincoln signs the Homestead Act that will help in providing cheap land for the settlement of the American West.

• 1867 – Queen Victoria laid the foundation of the Royal Albert Hall of Arts & Sciences in London
• 1873 –  The first blue jeans were patented by Levi Strauss and Jacob Davis with copper rivets

2019 –  Ban on coastal fishing imposed by Bangladesh for 65-day to conserve fish stocks

2020 – The highest rise in Covid- 19 cases reported by WHO. 106,000 new cases were recorded globally for the first time.
