1913 – Theatrical Release of Raja Harishchandra
The first-ever feature film, Raja Harishchandra was released in theatres on May 3. This event led to the beginning of modern cinema.

The All India Forward Block was formed on this day by Subhash Chandra Bose.

1999 – Kargil War
On this day, the Pakistani soldiers infiltrated the Indian side, thereby resulting in the Kargil War.

2002 – Crashing of MiG-21
On this day, Indian Airforce MiG-21 crashed into Jalander which led to 8 deaths and 7 injuries.
