  • 1940 – Subhash Chandra Bose
    Subhash Chandra Bose got arrested and detained in Calcutta over a protest and later home-bound on July 2.
  • 1972 – Shimla Treaty
    Indian Prime Minister Indira Gandhi and Pakistani President Zulfikar Ali Bhutto signed the Shimla Treaty which contained the principles which should govern future relations between both countries.

  • 2012-Monsoon rain in East India 
    The Eastern part of India was hit with heavy rainfall which killed at least 79 people and left 2.2 million homeless.
