India and UK will be working together in the development of the academic and research sector. UK Foreign Secretary, Dominic Raab was part of a meeting hosted by the Indian Education Minister, Ramesh Pokhriyal. How are India and UK Going to Work Together on Qualification Recognition?
Both the countries launched a task force to work towards the mutual recognition of the academic qualifications as confirmed by Indian Education Minister. NEP 2020 was highlighted in the meeting as a visionary and can be the next big step towards strengthening the collaboration between the two countries. Dominic Raab said that NEP 2020 can open up new opportunities for students as well as the economy along with the collaboration between two countries.
He stated that Indian students have always been a major part of their education system and are highly valued by the whole country. He believed that this mutual recognition between India and UK will result in great benefit for Indian students enrolling in the UK universities.The UK has made several changes in its visa and immigration rules to facilitate student mobility in the country already.
According to Pokhriyal the decision to create a task force will expedite the process of achieving mutual recognition of academic qualification. The agreement to work towards mutual recognition of academic qualifications also aligns with the vision of PM Narendra Modi for internationalisation of higher education and creation of a globally mobile workforce.
Both the countries have been really positive regarding the relationship between the two of them and have shown confidence that they would further increase their engagement in the field of research and education which will help in stronger bilateral relations.
However, India is trying to improve their relations with other countries as well. India and UAE also agreed to move forward in the direction of research and education together. As for French and Indian government, they decided to enhance their mutual recognition of academic qualifications back in 2018.
