Well-known humanitarian and Oscar winning actress Angelina Jolie is very serious when it comes to educational rights. In 2013, she opened an all-girls school in the outskirts of Kabul in Afghanistan which was funded by the proceeds of her titular jewellery collection. Since the year 2001, Jolie has been on various field missions in more than 20 countries. An essential mention to our list of celebrities fighting for education around the world, she was also awarded the Global Humanitarian award by the UN Association and several other distinguished awards for her charitable work.

During the recent COVID-19 crisis, she raised her voice in a livestream in an effort to ensure that education continues amid the pandemic. She said that the current epidemic wasn’t just a health crisis but also needed to be considered an educational crisis, especially for the children of refugees. She has also spoken about how education and schools help in rebuilding the lives of these children and help them achieve their dreams.
