I have had a lot of Prof friends & mentors across the years. And loved my relationship/s with them. I kind of ‘get the academia ecosystem’. Hence – baffles me even more when I see many academia ridiculing academics-leading-into> employability. It’s the only thing that matters.
Students head to institutes of HE to largely change their & their family’s life forever. Yes, learning is at the centre of it. But employability “HAS TO BE” the #1 area of work for Universities everywhere.
90%+ students are not heading to a Uni for understanding some very specific technical detail that ain’t ever going to be of use to them; they are headed to ‘work in a role/industry’ where they can bring their best to the table.
Sadly, it is the so-called branded institutes in India who reek this arrogance / & call parents and students using their placement centres as “recovery centres”. Laughable! Don’t worry mates. Hence students headed out to competing universities around the word.
FYI the 3 Professors on the Leverage Edu cap table: Anindya Ghosh, Bhagwan Chowdhry, Jim Schmidtke – all of whom spend considerable time on industry-academia collaborations.
Sirs’ Narendra Modi, Dr Ramesh Pokhriyal Nishank – “StudyInIndia” won’t work this way.
