Founded on the Christmas day of 1890 as the Oklahoma Agricultural and Mechanical College, Oklahoma State University has grown to become one of the best modern universities in the USA. From a College that started as a pasture to producing its first female Doctorate in 1947 and being named as America’s Best College Buys in 1997, OK State is today, recognized for providing affordable education with an international focus to more than 35,000 students. Known as “America’s Brightest Orange,” Oklahoma State University is Oklahoma’s land grant institution in Stillwater. It is affiliated with Oak Ridge Associated Universities (ORAU), as well as the space-grant and sun-grant colleges in the United States. The University ranks in the bracket #501-600 in the Times Higher Education World University Rankings, while the US News and World Report places Oklahoma State at #616 in the Best Global Universities category for the year 2022. 

Infrastructure, Campuses and Courses

Oklahoma State University is situated across five campus locations, with the main campus in Stillwater, which has the College of Veterinary Medicine. The other campuses are located in Oklahoma City and Tulsa in addition to a Centre for Health Sciences and an Institute of Technology in Okmulgee. There is also an Advanced Technology Research Center where most of the Engineering related research is performed. Apart from this, the university also has a library which contains more than 3 million books that are also available online through a subscription and the Seretean Centre to provide state-of-the-art learning infrastructure for Performing Arts students. The campus of the university is vibrant enough to make the learning experience memorable and is also recognized as America’s Healthiest Campus. More than 300 majors and minors at the Undergraduate level along with 200+ Master’s and PhD options and 20+ Graduate Certificates and Continuing Education programs are available at Oklahoma State.

Oklahoma State University is America’s Brightest Orange. Be it in terms of academics, research, the campus or student traditions, the University has a considerable number of achievements accorded to its name in every domain. OK State is a Carnegie R1 Research University, meaning that it is among the top tier research universities producing research that is “relevant, accessible and beneficial.” Further, it is recognized among the Top 50 Public Universities in America according to the Niche Magazine. It is also Top 10 for Sustainability and has 10 Honors programs listed in the Top 10 in the US. A Top 100 Public University in America, Oklahoma State was recognized as a “green college” by the Princeton Review in 2021. It is also popularly known as America’s Healthiest Campus. The University has an extensive list of alumni present across the globe. Some of the notable graduates include the billionaire philanthropist, T. Boone Pickens, Actor James Marsden, and Ed Roberts who is popularly known as the Father of the Personal Computer.

Student Diversity and Visiting Companies

A seven-time winner of the Higher Education Excellence in Diversity Award, Oklahoma State University encourages and celebrates diversity and difference. With a student body of 26,400+ out of which 26% students come from outside of Oklahoma, the University has students representing all 50 US States and 100+ countries on the campus. Popularly referred to as the “Cowboy Community,” OK State students participate in 500+ clubs, societies and teams. This includes nearly 70 diversity-related organizations. Further, the town of Stillwater itself is ranked as America’s Friendliest College Town, meaning that there is plenty much for the students to engage in both, inside and outside the campus. Walmart, Philips, Amazon, Dell Technologies, BOK Financial, Hilti North America and other corporate organizations hire graduates from OK State.
