History, Affiliations and Rankings
Berlin International University of Applied Sciences, a private institution of higher education, was established in 2012 in Berlin, Germany. Started as a campus of Bahcesehir University in 2012, it was the initiative taken by Enver Yücel, Turkish entrepreneur and the Founder and Chairman of the BAU Global Education Network with a vision to build an international network of higher institutions spread all over the world. Today, the University offers challenging, innovative and practice-oriented education that prepares students for an international career in a globalized setting. The Berlin International University of Applied Sciences holds institutional accreditation by the Science Council, while all its programs are also accredited by the Foundation Accreditation Council as well as ACQUIN. The University is also a member of the Amazon Web Services Academy.
Infrastructure, Campuses and Courses
Berlin International University of Applied Sciences is based in a commercial building ensemble Salzufer 6, which is located in Charlottenburg, on the border with Tiergarten. The campus features state-of-the-art technology and has new classrooms, computer labs, design studios and a room for students working in groups, video conferencing halls, and more in such a way that it represents an intercultural educational environment that provides students with the tools to develop their intellectual growth, experiences and creativity. The university began degree programs in October 2014 with only 500 students. Today, Berlin International University of Applied Sciences has two faculties - the Faculty of Architecture and Design and the Faculty of Business Administration that offer seven study programs mainly at the undergraduate level but also offers Master of Arts programs in Interior Design and Interior Architecture along with a traditional MBA degree. Programs in Digital Business & Management, International Management & Marketing, Business Administration, Organizational Psychology, Product Design, Architecture, Visual Communication, Interior Design, Graphic Design are offered at the Bachelor’s level.
Accomplishments and Alumni
In 2014, Berlin International University of Applied Sciences received the status of an independent university by the Federal Government of Germany. The Youth and Science Department of the Higher Education Board of Berlin gave permission to Berlin International University of Applied Sciences to start the trial operation. The institute has the Berlin International Alumni Association which is a global network where current students and graduates exchange information about career opportunities and more.
Student Diversity and Visiting Companies
68% of the student population at Berlin International University of Applied Sciences comprises international students who represent 92 different nationalities on the campus. Berlin International is part of a global community and has several partnerships with institutions around the globe that allows students to study abroad on exchange semesters. Further, Berlin University of Applied Sciences has 7 student clubs, including an LGBTQ Club and a Women Circle. With these clubs, students get the opportunity to participate in a variety of cultural and fun activities outside of the classroom and make connections with peers. Students can also benefit from the Mentoring Program and the services of the Career Center that are offered at the University, including networking events, career assistance etc... Some of the top companies that recruit BI graduates include Anderson Lab, L’Oreal, Upwork, Zalando and Microsoft.
