Young Tamil Nadu Brothers Invent Solar-Powered Bicycle To Beat Fuel Price Hike

Solar Energy is one of the best solutions for controlling pollution, climate change, and saving natural resources for future generations. You must have heard of solar cookers, solar watches, and calculators, but have you heard of solar bicycles before? Well, Tamil Nadu’s two young lads have successfully invented a solar-powered bicycle.

Veerapathiran and Ammani, parents of Veeraguruharikrishnan and Sampathkrishnan, never thought that their kids would create history and make them proud to this extent. The two brothers, 12-year-old Veeraguruharikrishnan and 11-year-old Sampathkrishnan are in the 8th grade and 7th grade in Thirupuvanam private school and Sivagangai school. They have created something extraordinary using solar energy.

 “There is also a plan to look at the appropriate equipment to increase or reduce the speed. This bicycle can carry a total weight of up to 150 kgs. Mobile phones charging slots are also available on the bicycle.”- Veeraguruharikrishnan

The bicycles designed by the brother’s duo are eco-friendly and built with solar-powered motorized equipment. The idea was to create something new with the products they own. The total cost of the bicycle was Rs. 10,000 including the bicycle. It can travel up to 30 KM and is charged from sunlight. Based on the current speed, it can go at a speed of 25 to 35 km/h.
