How to Register?
Indian nationals planning to study or work abroad must be fully vaccinated. The Indian state government has set up special vaccination camps, reduced the gap between the two doses, and even ensured free vaccination doses in some cases to facilitate a smooth transition for Indians traveling abroad. There are different ways to register to get vaccinated:
- Students can register on the state municipal corporation website for special camps organised by different state governments and get fully vaccinated.
- Students with offer letters can even go to walk-in vaccination camps to get vaccinated and fulfill all the requirements for traveling abroad.
- Students and professionals can register through the COWIN App to book an appointment at their nearest vaccination center.

- Vaccination Facility at Navyug School, Mandir Marg, New Delhi
- Periyamilaguparai Primary Healthcare Centre, Tiruchirappalli, Tamil Nadu

Students are required to carry documents like an offer letter, CAS letter, or visa approval letter so that they can get vaccinated within 28 days of the first vaccination jab. Similarly, working professionals flying abroad must submit offer letters from companies to provide proof of urgency at special vaccination camps for going abroad.

Vaccinations Rules and Guidelines for Students Going Abroad
Vaccination rules and guidelines for students going abroad may differ depending upon the country you’re planning to visit. There are some common requirements that Indian students must fulfill in order to attend university and enter the foreign country this fall:
- WHO and all foreign countries recognize only the Serum Institute of India’s Covishield, also called the Oxford-AstraZeneca vaccine. Covaxin and Sputnik V have not received WHO approval to date. Students must be vaccinated by Covisheild so that they can travel internationally.
- All students traveling abroad must be fully vaccinated by a WHO-approved vaccine.
- Students must complete both their doses and must provide documentary proof to the university and airline prior to boarding the flight.
- Students are required to take a COVID test 72 hours prior to their flight. If the test is negative, only then students will be allowed to board the flight.
- Indian students may be required to quarantine in a place of their choice for a period of 10 to 14 days after arriving in the country. During this time, students are not allowed to leave the premises.
- Students are required to take a test after arriving in a foreign country. For instance, UK and USA students are required to take a test after landing on day 2 and again on day 8 during their quarantine period. Similarly in the USA, students are required to take tests on designated days while in Canada, travelers flying into the country can be randomly tested at the airport.

Documents Required for Students Traveling Abroad
There are some documents that students and working professionals must produce in order to be eligible for a 28-day gap period for Covishield vaccination. These documents are:
- Passport
- Documents from the University [Unconditional/conditional offer letter or CAS letter issued by the university]
- Offer letter from the workplace
- Date of joining documents
- Passport
- Student Visa

State governments have set up special vaccination camps for Indians traveling abroad. People who are eligible for these camps and drives are students going abroad for studies, people going abroad for jobs, and other Indian nationals who can provide proof of work abroad. The special vaccination camps are for students going abroad before 31st August or on.
Covishield is the only Indian vaccine that has been approved by WHo and accepted by foreign countries for traveling abroad.
India is termed as a high-risk country due to the increasing number of COVID cases. However, it was recently removed from the red list to amber list by the UK and many other countries have opened up direct flights and third-party flights for Indian students traveling for the fall intake.
Indian students traveling to UK, USA, and Canada are required to quarantine for 10 to 14 days and take a covid test on day 2 and day 10. Students are quarantined at the place of their choice. After providing a negative test result, students are free to rejoin on-campus classes and activities.
