1940: Michael O’Dwyer assassinated
The Indian activist Udham Singh shot General O’Dwyer at a joint meeting of the East Asian Association and Central Asian Society for his role in the Jallianwale Bagh massacre.

1996: World Cup Semi-Final
The World Cup Semi-Finals was between India and Sri Lanka at the Eden Garden, Kolkata. India lost the match as fans became unruly in the stadium.

1997: Sister Nirmala replaces Mother Teresa
The Missionaries of Charity selected Sister Nirmala to succeed Mother Teresa as the Superior General of the charity. Mother Teresa stepped down from the post because of her health on March 13, 1997.

2004: Ustad Vilayat Khan passed away
The famous Indian classical sitarist, Ustad Vilayat Khan passed away on March 13th, 2004. The famous sitar player was for musical expertise and talent and turning down Indian awards like Padma Shri, Padma Bhushan and Padma Vibhushan.

2010: Abdul Latif Rashid and Riyaz Ali arrested
Abdul Latif Rashid and Riyaz Ali were arrested by the Maharashtra Anti-Terrorism Squad for Planning terror attacks at the ONGC office at Bandra, Mumbai on March 13, 2010.

Susan B. Anthony, the American suffragist, social worker and woman rights activist passed away on March 13th, 1906.

Jorge Mario Bergoglio is the head of the Catholic Church and the sovereign head of Vatican City. was elected by the Papal Conclave the successor to Benedict XVI on March 13 2014.

2020: Breonna Taylor was Shot
Breonna Taylor, an African-American woman was shot by the police at her apartment during a police raid. This incident resulted in massive protests across American soil against policing and racial injustice.
