JEE Advanced 2020 Result Declared and JoSAA Registration Begins

The JEE Advanced 2020 results were declared by the Indian Institute of Technology, Delhi (IIT Delhi) on Monday (5th October 2020). A total of 1,60,831 students from all over India had appeared for the JEE Advanced exam this year. 

The top rank in the Common Rank List (CRL) in JEE Advanced 2020 was secured by Chirag Falor who belongs to the IIT Bombay zone. Falor scored 352 marks out of a total of 396 marks to bag the first position. However, he will be skipping the chance to study at an IIT, since he has already secured admission at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology or MIT.

Kanishka Mittal, who belongs to the IIT Roorkee zone secured the top rank among the female category with Common Rank List (CRL) 17. She scored 315 out of 396 marks.

The Education Minister Ramesh Pokhriyal ‘Nishank’ congratulated IIT Delhi for successfully conducting the exam and declaring the results on time. He also assured that there are plenty of opportunities available for students who were not able to secure their desired ranks while adding that “Students should remember that an exam cannot define them.”

The JEE Advanced exam is the second stage of the Joint Entrance Examination which is required for admission to an engineering program at the Indian Institutes of Technology. Of the total number of candidates who registered for JEE Advanced this year, around 96% students had appeared for the exam. A total number of 1,51,311 candidates had appeared for Paper 1 and around 1,50,900 candidates appeared for Paper 2 of the JEE Advanced 2020 exam.

The candidates who have qualified the JEE Advanced 2020 exam will now be participating in the centralised online admission process known as the JoSAA counselling 2020 process for getting admission in the prestigious IITs, NITs, IIIT and other government-funded technical institutes or GFTIs. The qualified candidates will have to register for the JoSAA counselling and seat allotment process 2020. The registration process is scheduled to begin from 6th October 2020.
