The Illinois Institute of Technology is the only technology-focused University in Chicago, USA, that was opened in 1893 as the Armour Institute. Illinois Tech proper was created in 1940 with the merging of Armour Institute along with Lewis Institute. Established to democratize higher education in the 19th century, the University today has become an Educational Best Value according to top publications of the likes of Forbes, The Princeton Review, Money Magazine and more. At Illinois Tech, students are offered exceptional preparation for careers that require technology sophistication and an innovative and entrepreneurial mindset. Illinois Institute of Technology is one of the 22 institutions that comprise the Association of Independent Technological Universities (AITU). Academics at Illinois Tech are accredited by the Higher Learning Commission. The Institute is also affiliated with the Association of Independent Technological Universities (AITU) and the National Association of Independent Colleges and Universities (NAICU). The Times Higher Education World University Rankings 2022 and QS World University Rankings 2022 rank Illinois Tech between #351-400 and #444, respectively. Illinois Institute of Technology is located in the global metropolis of Chicago, in a picturesque, historic campus called the Mies campus, which is only a few miles away from the stunning beaches near Lake Michigan.  In fact, the campus is designated as one of America’s best college campuses with the campus buildings featured in ArchDaily’s list of “23 Buildings You Shouldn’t Miss in Chicago.” Illinois Tech is academically structured into 7 Schools and Colleges, along with Research Institutes and Affiliate Institutions. The Illinois Tech Colleges offer courses in Engineering, Law, Architecture, Computer Science, Science and Letters, Design and Business/Management. There are 40+ Undergraduate programs and 60+ Graduate programs, in addition to pre-college programs and Summer Courses. The SR Crown Hall on the campus has been designated as a National Historic Landmark by the United States Secretary of the Interior. The Institute also features in Money Magazine’s list of the Great Colleges that offer a scholarship to every freshman.
