The Illinois Institute of Technology is the only technology-focused University in Chicago, USA, that was opened in 1893 as the Armour Institute. Illinois Tech proper was created in 1940 with the merging of Armour Institute along with Lewis Institute. Established to democratize higher education in the 19th century, the University today has become an Educational Best Value according to top publications of the likes of Forbes, The Princeton Review, Money Magazine and more. Illinois Institute of Technology is located in the global metropolis of Chicago, in a picturesque, historic campus called the Mies campus, which is only a few miles away from the stunning beaches near Lake Michigan.
