History, Affiliations and Rankings

The Australian Catholic University was founded on 1 January 1991 when four Catholic tertiary institutions had come together in eastern Australia: Catholic College of Education Sydney, New South Wales, Institute of Catholic Education, Victoria,  McAuley College, Queensland, Signadou College of Education, Australian Capital Territory. All institutions were founded in the mid-1800s when religious orders and institutes were involved in developing educators for Catholic institutes. Australia Catholic University is affiliated with Universities Australia, ACCU, IFCU, ICUSTA, and OUA. Australia Catholic University is Australia’s only public Catholic university and is part of the government-funded national system of Australian universities. The Australian Catholic University ranks between #801-1000 in QS World University Ranking 2022 and ranks between #251-300 in THE World University Rankings 2022. Furthermore, ACU is being ranked #479 by the U.S. News Best Global Universities Rankings 2022. 

Infrastructure, Campuses and Courses

The Australian Catholic University has a total of 8 campuses located in North Sydney, Strathfield, Brisbane, Melbourne, Ballarat, Blacktown Canberra and Sydney. In 2015, Australia Catholic University established its Rome campus in Italy by collaborating with the Catholic University of America. All campuses of Australian Catholic University taken together can be divided into four faculties: Health Sciences, Theology and Philosophy, Education and Arts, Law and Business. They offer more than 175 programs ranging from nursing, politics, arts and humanities, media communication, and human resource management.

University has more than 31,000 student enrolments out of which about 26,000 are undergraduates and 4,500 are postgraduates with more than 1,000 staff members on its premises.
