Two Secrets to Know Before Taking the PTE Exam

It is true that one formula is not suitable for all candidates appearing for PTE Exam. However, the basics of the preparation process remain the same. Here are the two secrets students must know before taking PTE Academic and Academic UKVI exam:

1. Regular Self-Assessment

  • Candidates are advised to assess their English reading, speaking, listening, and writing skills before taking the PTE Exam. Constant evaluation is a must. Applicants must practice loads of PTE Question Banks and Scored Practice Tests to identify their strengths and weaknesses. Focus on low-scoring areas and practice questions related to those communicative skills.
  • After the identification of weaknesses and strengths, candidates must set a target score for themselves and plan their test day accordingly.
  • After regular practice with sample papers and PTE test papers and constant reference to graded sources, students must reassess their development at regular intervals.

2. Learning in a Chaotic Environment

  • Students must practice recording themselves in busy restaurants and cafes to become comfortable with the commotion of the PTE test centre. As everyone at the centre is recording themselves for the Speaking section, one must get used to the environment.
  • Candidates are recommended to listen to podcasts in a noisy environment so that there is no confusion and irritation on exam day. This is the secret to acing the Listening section of the PTE Academic and Academic UKVI tests.
  • Try to solve written questions in a park or a cafe, to train the mind to concentrate in the presence of a crowd and noise. This will help candidates improve their scores in Essay and Short Answer Questions.
