  • The applicant must have obtained either a contractual work or a job letter from a company based in Ireland 
  • The employer has to clear the Labour Markets Needs Test. However, this is not needed for critical skills employment visa applicants
  • Those who are applying for a critical skills employment permit must meet the minimum salary requirements. For example, at least €30,000 or €80,000 (depending on the type of work).
  • Those who are applying for a German Employment permit must also meet the income requirements. In the case of this type of visa, the salary requirement is at least  €30,000.
  • Any other type of work permit requires the applicant to meet the annual minimum wage in Ireland 
  • Moreover, the company that is hiring the applicant must have a minimum of 50% EU/EEA/Swiss nationals.

Certain applicants are exempted from Ireland work permits. These are as follows. 

  • The applicant is an Ireland student visa holder. International students are only permitted to work for a maximum of 20 hours per week or 40 hours per week during holidays.
  • Those who are a national spouse, parent or civil partner of an Irish citizen
  • Applicants who have received refugee status in Ireland or have received permission to remain in the country on humanitarian grounds.
  • The applicant is carrying out specific scientific research from a recognised institution
  • Is a postgraduate student and employment is a part of the course

The Ireland work visa for Indian application can be submitted either by the applicant or the employee. Note; to obtain the work permit visit EPOS..The following are the steps for the Irelan work visa application.

  • The application for the Ireland work visa can be made by visiting AVATS. 
  • Print out the application form and sign and date it. Later submit the same along with relevant documentation 
  • Provide biometric information as requested and pay the visa fees 
  • It generally takes 8 weeks for the visa application to be processed.

Can you go from an Ireland work visa to permanent residence?

Yes. It is possible to get a permanent residency permit in Ireland. However, for this, the applicant must have lived in the country for 5 years.  Such applicants can also apply for Irish citizenship provided they meet the eligibility criteria for the same,

The Ireland work visas are generally granted for 90 days. However, this can differ depending on the type of visa. Most of the employment permits are granted for a period of 24 months and can be renewed for up to 5 years.
