About Polytechnic Scholarships 

The scholarship award will be given to the student based on their academic record and the marks scored in the previous year’s examination. There are only 3 categories that are eligible for these scholarships – OBC, Minority, and PwD. 

Students must have received 50% to 60% on their last year’s exams and have 75% attendance in their academic records. Students must also ensure that their family’s annual income does not exceed Rs. 1,50,000 or Rs. 8,00,000. There are certain courses covered under polytechnic scholarships – vocational courses, medical courses, paramedical courses, professional courses, and technical degree courses. The scholarship amount will cover various educational expenses of students like study tour charges, learning device expenses, maintenance expenses, admission fees, tuition fees, reader fees, and thesis typing charges.

Benefits Provided Under Polytechnic Scholarships 

Mentioned below is the list of benefits provided under Polytechnic scholarships:

  • There are 9 kinds of Scholarships offered to students who are pursuing diploma or polytechnic courses. 
  • The amount rewarded under the scholarship will cover various educational expenses of the students, such as tuition fees, admission fees, study tour charges, maintenance allowance, etc. 
  • Under the NEC Scholarship students get an amount ranging between INR 20,000 to INR 30,000 per annum. 
  • Students who are residing in NER regions of India will get a scholarship ranging between INR 5,400 to INR 7,800 who are pursuing general, vocational, and technical courses.  
  • Students part of the PwD category with 40% disability, who are pursuing a diploma or degree in technical courses will get a scholarship amount of INR 50,000 per annum.

To apply for a Polytechnic scholarship, the student needs to provide the following documents:

  • The Aadhar Card of the student 
  • PAN card
  • Caste Certificate 
  • Educational Certificates 
  • Income Proof / Certificate 
  • Bank Account Details 
  • A residence certificate issued by the competent authority
  • Latest passport size photographs of the student
  • Self Declaration form 
  • Course fee receipt

Along with the above-mentioned documents, students also need to provide other information like college registration number, mobile number, and email ID.

Eligibility Criteria for Polytechnic Scholarships 

The applicants need to fulfil certain eligibility criteria to be considered for a polytechnic scholarship. The table below contains the eligibility criteria for various polytechnic scholarships.

Ishay Uday Special Scholarship Scheme for North Eastern Region The student should belong to a minority community. Have 50% marks in the previous year’s examination. 
Have an annual income of INR 2 Lakh.
Post Matric Scholarship for Minorities The student must be a girl student pursuing a diploma enrolled for the first year.
Have an annual income of INR 8 Lakh.
Pragati Scholarship for Girl Students The student must be a girl student pursuing a diploma enrolled for the first year.
Have an annual income of INR 8 Lakh.
Saksham Scholarship for Disabled Students The student should belong to the PwD category having 40% disability.
Must be admitted for the first-year degree or diploma-level course in the technical stream.Must have an annual income of INR 8 Lakh. 
Merit Cum Means Scholarships For Professional and Technical Courses The student should be pursuing a technical or professional course from the Polytechnic College.
The applicant must have secured at least 50% marks in the previous year’s examination.

Q1. How much scholarship amount can I get while pursuing a diploma course?

Ans. As per the polytechnic scholarships students who are pursuing a diploma-level course can get a scholarship amount ranging between INR 20,000 to INR 30,000 per annum. The scholarship amount will cover expenses like maintenance allowance, study tour charges, tuition fees, admission fees, etc.

  1. i scored more than 60% in 2nd year of diploma MECHANICAL ENGINEERING & 88.86% in 10th Standard.But I don’t have money to pay the fees 10,700 and also exam fees. my father was worked in Dharwad Railway station more than 10 years and the got injured and leg pain. they leave work from 5 years.can government help me?
