TATA Scholarships 2024-25 are available for students who showcase incredible learning capabilities and exemplary intellectual abilities. TATA scholarships are run by TATA companies and trusts including Ratan Tata Trust and Sir Dorabji Tata Trust. These scholarships are available online and are provided to eligible students only. This scholarship aims to provide financial support to needy students who are talented young minds but could not complete their studies because of their economic condition. Tata Scholarships 2024-25: Overview

Tata scholarship is offered to talented students in their respective chosen fields like medicine, engineering, business, etc. School students from Class VIII onwards can also apply for the Tata scholarship programs. Not just that, students wishing to seek their higher education abroad can also apply for Tata scholarships to get financial aid for their studying abroad journey. 

Tata Trusts offers individual scholarship grants to serve the different needs of students at different levels. Only eligible students can apply for these scholarships online. These scholarships include the Jamsetjee Nusserwanjee Tata Endowment’s Loan scholarship scheme, the Tata Means Grant, Merit-based scholarships, the Lady Meherbai D Tata Education Trust Scholarship, the Civil Aviation scholarship scheme, the Professional Enhancement Grant, Spectrum Grants and the Lady Tata Memorial Trust.

Important Dates for Tata Scholarships 2024-25 

The last date to apply for the majority of the Tata Scholarships has passed. While the application window is now closed for these scholarships, you can register for them when the application process begins again.

JN Tata Endowment Loan Scholarship 

Since its inception, this scholarship has been awarded to nearly 5600 meritorious students. The scholarships began with the initiative of Jamsetjee Nusserwanjee, the promoter of Tata Groups. The endowment scholarship only supports the higher education of students, abroad. 

To seek quality education abroad, one is bound to pay a high tuition fee. But for those who are interested in obtaining overseas education at the master’s, PhD and postdoctoral levels in any educational stream, the JN Tata Endowment Loan Scholarship will provide them with a loan.

The scholarship is provided only to the best and most gifted minds to make the students of the greatest service to the country. Candidates can seek a loan for up to INR 10 lakhs as per their application. The loan amount can be repaid within 7 years after the day of its granting and is collected in 5 equal instalments of the loan’s amount starting from the end of the third year of their education. Also, sometimes trustees even waive off the interest of the loan if it is paid timely. 

Eligibility Criteria for JN Tata Endowment Loan Scholarship: Candidates must be in the final year of graduate or undergraduate study or have received a minimum of 60% marks in their graduation/postgraduation studies. Candidates must be below 45 years of age as of 30 June 2023.

The selection process of the JN Tata Endowment Scholarship includes 4 phases. Currently, all the 4 phases of selection have been closed for the year 2023-24. Students may recheck the official application forms for the session 2024-25 during March 2024 on the official website. 

Lady Meherbai D Tata Education Scholarship 

Being one of the most famous Tata scholarships, this one enables female graduates to study abroad in master’s courses in fields like public health, social work, education, gender studies, rural development, communication of development, child health, etc. Every year, up to 10 women benefit from this scholarship.  The scholarship amount offered is between 3 to 6 lakh and is decided by evaluating the performance of the candidate in a personal interview. 

Eligibility Criteria

  • For Indian women who have graduated with a degree from a recognized university 
  • Excellent academic records
  • The candidate must have applied or secured admission to a reputed University in the USA, UK or Europe
  • It is necessary to have a work experience of at least 2 years 

Important Date: The application for the Lady Meherbai D Tata Education Scholarship has closed for the academic year 2023-24.

Tata Trusts Means Grant 

For those who study at schools/colleges located in Mumbai and its suburbs, out of all the Tata scholarships, this is exclusively for them. This scholarship provides partial financial assistance as per the needs of college and school-going students. College students can avail of this grant only up to the level of graduation (excluding the engineering programs) and school-going students, class VIII onwards can benefit from this grant.

Eligibility Criteria: The students native to Mumbai belonging to class VIII or onwards till the level of graduation can apply for this scholarship except for the engineering courses.

Important dates: The last date to apply for the Tata Means Grant was 31 January 2024. Students may wait for the application process to commence again.

Merit-based Scholarships

The merit-based scholarship scheme has closed for the academic session 2023-24. The scheme is open to various courses listed below:

  1. Aircraft Maintenance Engineering
  2. MSc in Neuroscience
  3. B.Ed and M.Ed courses: This is applicable only for students studying in J&K and the North-East Indian states.
  4. MSc in Speech Therapy, MSc in Speech and Hearing, MSc in Audio Speech Therapy, Master’s in Audiology and MSc in Speech-Language Pathology.
  5. Undergraduate and postgraduate Medical and Healthcare courses in India
  6.  Special Courses

Scholarship for Civil Aviation

This Tata scholarship grant is provided to students who wish to get a commercial pilot’s license. This grant is also provided to students who pursue type rating after obtaining their flying license for flying any type of aircraft. The amount of scholarship granted depends entirely on the in-person interview conducted by the selection committee. Both students seeking a flying course in India and abroad are eligible for this kind of grant. 

Professional Enhancement Grant

The professionals who wish to enhance their professional skills are the major beneficiaries of this scheme. Professionals seeking training, workshops (except for conferences and presentations) and observership programs abroad can benefit from this scheme.

Spectrum Grants

The Special Grants cover funding for rare sports, research and caregivers of children with special needs. The sports covered under this scheme are Swimming, Badminton, Pistol, Rifle, Archery, Chess, Para-Sports, Athletics, Wrestling, Gymnastics and Weightlifting. 

Lady Tata Memorial Trust

The Lady Tata Memorial Trust dedicates four-fifths of its total income in the form of the “Young Researcher Award” to budding scientists in the research field of blood disorders and leukemic diseases. The remaining one-fifth of income is spent on supporting research in the fields of alleviation of human suffering from diseases in India and internationally. The trust also conducts a teacher’s training programme.

This scholarship has provided an aggregated grant of ~INR 1.84 crore during 2021-22 for 5 extraordinary research projects in the field of leukaemia and blood diseases under the International Awards scheme. 

How to Apply for Tata Scholarships 2024-25?

Follow these steps to apply for the Tata Scholarship 2024-25:

  • Visit the official Tata Trust website to apply for the scholarship
  • Download the Tata Trust Scholarship application form and take a printout. 
  • Submit the duly filled form along with other required documents as an attachment in one email and send it to [email protected].

Important Instructions for Application

  1. There are no moderators for Tata Trusts, so candidates are advised to not share any of their documents with any person claiming to be an associate of the Tata Trusts. 
  2. Candidates must clearly define their reason for the scholarship and the program scholarship desired.
  3. All the required documents must be shared within one single email, failing to do so or sending documents in different emails or within the thread will lead to the failure of the application. Such applications will be considered null or void.  

Documents Required

The following documents are required to apply for the Tata Scholarship:

  • If applicable, the email address of the noncustodial parents of an applicant
  • Financial records of money earned during the financial year of application
  • Current bank statements 
  • Current mortgage information 
  • Latest income tax return 
  • Saving records, bonds, stocks, trusts and other investments
  • Salary slips of applicant’s parents
  • The applicant must have records of the untaxed income and benefits during the financial year of application

  • Meritorious students with financially weaker backgrounds are provided with this scholarship
  • The scholarship provides financial assistance to students, and a chance to complete their studies 
  • The students will be required to clear a screening process at the initial stage
