The ‘E-Medhabruti’ is a scholarship scheme launched by the Government of Odisha. The objective of the scheme started by the Higher Education Department is to grant financial aid of up to INR 20,000 to outstanding students. However, the parental income of these students should not exceed INR 6 lakh.  A total of 14,500 scholarships are awarded each year. The scholarship is offered for the entire course duration. About Medhabruti Scholarship

The Medhabruti Scholarship is a scholarship provided by the Odisha government. The scholarship aims to financially support the students of Odisha. The scholarship grants meritorious students financial assistance to complete their undergraduate, postgraduate, or technical/professional education. As a part of the scholarship scheme, students are granted an amount of INR 5000 – INR 10,000 per year.  However, to be eligible for the scholarship students must meet the minimum eligibility requirements. MBBS, engineering, architecture, and hotel and hospitality management are some of the courses covered under the Medhabruti scholarship.

To be eligible for the scholarship students must be a resident of Odisha, must have an annual income of less than INR 6 lakh, and must have secured a minimum of 60% marks in the previous examination. Additionally, the students must meet the eligibility requirements for the course they have taken.

The E-Medhabruti Scholarship is granted to both undergraduate and postgraduate students. The  Courses that are applicable under this scholarship scheme are as follows:

  • UG Merit: 3-year undergraduate degree programs. That is courses like BA/B.com/B.sc/BCA/BBA, etc.
  • PG Merit:  Commerce/Arts/Science non-professional postgraduate courses

Documents Required 

Candidates have to submit the necessary documents to be considered for the scholarship. The documents submitted help the scholarship committee verify the profile of the candidate. Below are the essential documents that have to be submitted by the applicant.

  • Domicile Certificate of the applicant
  • Proof of annual income of the parents 
  • Academic documents such as mark sheets, and certificates of the last qualifying examination
  • College identification card 
  • The bank account statement of the student
  • Aadhar card

Candidates can register online for the E-Malhabruti scholarship. Online registration and submission of an application form are required. The steps to apply are as follows:

  • On the homepage click the registration link, and read the instructions
  • Enter details such as your name, date of birth, email address, phone number etc., and register yourself
  • Next, log in to the account and click on ‘apply now’
  • Fill out the scholarship form, upload the documents, and submit the form

The last date to apply for the E Medhabruti Scholarship was 31 January 2024. The last date to apply for the scholarship has passed, and the registration date for 2025 hasn’t been notified yet. Scholarship Selection Criteria 

The E-Malhabruti scholarship application has selection criteria. Generally, the selection of the student would be based on the eligibility requirements. Students who meet the eligibility criteria are granted the scholarship. Some of them are as follows:

  • Marks secured by the student in the last qualifying examination
  • The student record that is certified/integrated online by the principal
  • When the marks secured by 2 candidates are the same then the family income would be taken into consideration. In such a situation, candidates with a low income would be granted a scholarship
  • After the selection of the candidates, a merit list will be prepared. Candidates can download the same from the official website.

Terms and Conditions

Certain terms and conditions are provided for every scholarship. The E-Medhabruti Scholarship terms and conditions exclude scholarships for certain courses. Students pursuing these courses are not eligible for the E-Medhabruti Scholarship.

  • Higher degree courses from open universities 
  • Distance learning or correspondence courses
  • Self-financing general UG/PG course
  • Diploma level courses, M.Phil., PhD, B.Ed., M.Ed. 
  • Students pursuing courses from an institution not approved by regulatory bodies like AICTE, MCI, UGC, etc
  • Moreover, students pursuing another professional course of the same level are excluded from the scholarship
  • Students who have already availed any other scholarship to study the course.
  • Students who are not validated by the concerned institution during the 1st year of the degree course won’t be eligible for the scholarship
