What is the Full Form of DIG?

DIG full form is Deputy Inspector General of Police in its complete form. It is a three-star position in the Indian Police Service (DCP) that comes before the Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) or Deputy Commissioner of Police. The Inspector General of Police (IG) or Joint Commissioner of Police is in charge of the employee in this position. An IPS officer wearing a uniform with three stars performs tasks from this office.

Based on experience, performance, and track record, he or she is then promoted to the post of Superintendent of Police (SP), Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP), and lastly Deputy Inspector General of Police (DIG).
