Initially, the force came into existence as the Crown Representative’s Police (CRP) which was later renamed as Central Reserve Police Force after the enactment of the CRPF Act in 1947. Their motto is Service and Loyalty. Currently, there are 246 total battalions and more than 3,00,000 personnel serving in the force.
