PMT full form is a Pre-Medical Test. The PMT is a yearly medical admission examination. A candidate must complete pre-medical tests after clearing the SSLC board examination and the pre-university examination to pursue a career in the medical sector, whether it be MBBS, BDS, or any other medical area. In India, NEET-UG has replaced the All India Pre-Medical Test and the Dental Test. The National Eligibility Cum Entrance Test (NEET) was created on May 5, 2013. The Government of India first announced the test in 2013 and held it for applicants seeking medical undergraduate and graduate degrees.

Objectives of PMT

The following are the primary goals of the PMT (full-form Pre Medical Test) examination:

  1. To establish a standardised and objective method of assessing aspiring medical students’ aptitude and expertise.
  2. To determine individuals’ eligibility for undergraduate medical programs such as MBBS (Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery) and BDS (Bachelor of Dental Surgery).
  3. To develop a pool of qualified candidates for admission to Indian medical institutions.
  4. To ensure that only persons with the appropriate knowledge and skills are admitted to medical school in order to keep the country’s medical education standards high.
  5. To promote justice and transparency in the medical school admissions process.

PMT Eligibility Criteria

  1. The PMT (full form Pre-medical Test) is open to people of all nations. Indian nationals, non-resident Indians, overseas Indian citizens, persons of Indian heritage, and foreign nationalities are among them.
  2. To be eligible, candidates must present an Aadhaar card and number.
  3. The minimum age is 17 years old.
  4. There is no maximum age.
  5. Candidates must have at least a 50% average in sciences such as physics, chemistry, and biology.
  6. The PMT allows candidates a maximum of three attempts.

PMT Exam Pattern

PMT is held in two stages: AIPMT prelims and AIPMT mains. The AIPMT preliminary exam is objective, whereas the main exam is subjective. Only those who pass the preliminary exam are eligible to sit in the AIPMT main exam. 

The exam is physically held at defined venues. The exam lasts three hours in total. The PMT (full-form Pre-Medical Test) programme comprises 45-question science courses such as physics, chemistry, biology, and biotechnology. There are a total of 180 objective-type questions in total. The exam questions are written in both Hindi and English. Furthermore, each correct response is worth four points, whereas each bad answer is worth one point less.
