What is CIDR?

For example, consider the IP address 192.168.0.0 and the subnet mask 255.255.0.0. In CIDR notation, this would be represented as 192.168.0.0/16. The “/16” indicates that the first 16 bits of the IP address represent the network address and the remaining 16 bits represent the host address.
