The full form of BAD is Bipolar Affective Disorder. It is a common mental health condition that causes extreme mood swings in the patient including emotional highs (mania or hypomania) and extreme lows (depression). In other words, the patient suffers sudden and unexpected shifts from a state of pure happiness to feeling hopeless and sad.

What Causes Bipolar Affective Disorder?

Unfortunately, the exact cause of bipolar disorder in humans is still a lost cause. Researchers all around the world are trying to find the root cause of this mental condition. It is widely believed that BAD is caused to be a bunch of biological, genetical, physical, mental, social, and environmental factors. For instance, poor sleep cycle, sleep disruption, stress, excessive physical activity, break up with the spouse, poor diet, imbalance of brain chemicals, etc can cause this health condition.
