Heat

This unit of class 9 ICSE Physics syllabus aims to impart knowledge about concepts of heat and temperature; expansion of solids, liquids and gases; consequences of expansion; anomalous expansion of water; expansion of solid; cubical expansion of liquids and gases; disadvantages of expansion; temperature scales; transfer of heat by conduction, convection and radiation; applications of the methods etc.

Light 

Major concepts taught through this section are image formed by a plane; reflection of light; regular and irregular reflection; image found by a pair of parallel and perpendicular plane mirror; laws of reflection; simple periscope; experimental verification; lateral inversion; characteristics of lateral inversion; spherical mirrors and its characteristics; concave and convex mirror;  use of plane mirrors etc.

Sound

Nature of sound waves; medium for sound waves to travel; propagation and speed in different media; comparison with speed of light; sound propagation; production of vibrations; comparison of speed of light with speed of sound; thunder and lightning; frequency range for hearing and speaking; difference between ultrasonic and supersonic etc. are necessary topics under this chapter of class 9 ICSE Physics syllabus.

Electricity and Magnetism
