South Korea’s popular Sejong University was founded in the year 1940 as Kyung Sung Humanities Institute. It is a private university located in the capital city of Seoul. Sejong University's journey started as a woman before becoming a university in the year 1978. It was named Sejong after the fourth king of the Chosun Dynasty, Sejong The Great. Dr. Youngha Choo and Dr. Okja Choi founded the Kyung Sung Humanities Institute in May 1940, which became Sejong University. Sejong University is officially recognised by the Ministry of Education, South Korea. In the year 2022, Sejong University has secured 601-650 positions in QS World Ranking, #506 in US News and World Report and 251-300 in Times Higher Education Ranking. The business school of the university was awarded by AACSB (Association to Advance Collegiate School of Business). 

Infrastructure, Campuses and Courses

Sejong University is growing its educational standards and college infrastructure consistently. Sejong University's wooded 118,262 m2 campus is located at 98 Gunja-dong, Gwangjin-gu, in eastern Seoul, north of the Han River, South Korea's capital. The campus, which is situated across from the Seoul Children's Grand Park, consists of 23 buildings, including the Sejong Private Elementary School and the Student Center. The site features buildings constructed in traditional Korean designs. It comprises nine colleges namely the College of Liberal Arts, College of Social Science, College of Business Administration, College of Hospitality and Tour Management, College of Natural Science, College of Life Sciences,  College of Engineering, College of Electronics and Information Security, College of Arts and Physical Education. The most popular professional courses among domestic as well as international students are Hotel Management, Physical Education, Animation, Design, Rhythmic gymnastics and Liberal art are the most popular professional courses among domestic as well as international students. 

Accomplishments and Alumni

The university is growing its Graphene Research Center as a priority research centre supported by Korea’s research foundation. The university has also introduced a department for national defence. The university comprises world-known teachers and scholars who hold recognition for their research-based studies from various multinational research organizations. Sejong University was honoured by the Ministry of Education and Human Resources Development in 2004 for its excellence in promoting originality, innovation, and academic accomplishment. The Graduate School of Business was certified by the Association of Advanced Collegiate Schools of Business in 2007. The university offers students summer internship programs and industry-based programs to provide students with practical learning. Sejong University is acknowledged as Resource Development Specialization University. Song Hye-kyo, South Korean actress, Kwon Ji-yong- south Korean king of K-pop. Yoo Yeon-seok -South Korean actor, Lee Sung-Jung- a Korean singer, and Lee Joon-Ik South Korean film director and producer are some of the notable alumni of Sejong University.

Student Diversity and Visiting Companies

Each year thousands of international students come to Seoul to study at Sejong University. International Students Association (ISA) and Global Buddy are the groups responsible for a friendly and supportive environment at Sejong. Coupang, Samsung Electronics, LG Electronics, NCSOFT, EY Hyundai Motor Company, Line Plus Corporation etc are the companies that visit Sejong University to offer job opportunities to the students.
