Humber College was founded in 1967 with the aim of promoting cultural communication and becoming an institution of lifelong learning. In 1967, the provincial legislature established the Colleges of Applied Arts and Technology to provide quality career education, proper training and accessibility to the region of Ontario. The name Humber College is appropriate since the college is a never-ending stream of information and ideas that feed Ontario's economy and enrich the lives of its inhabitants. The Ontario College System was established in 1967, and Humber was founded the following year. The purpose was to create a highly qualified and competent workforce to help Ontario's economy grow. That objective was fulfilled and exceeded. Humber College has developed into an advanced, collaborative educational institution at the intersection of business, industry, and society. The college is also affiliated with Canadian Collegiate Athletic Association, Colleges and Institutes Canada, Universities Canada and Canadian Bureau for International Education. Furthermore, the college has also risen in rankings of Canada's top 50 research colleges. Humber is in 6th position on the list of Canada's Top 50 Research Colleges. 

Infrastructure, Campus and Courses

Humber College has three main campuses: Humber Orangeville Campus, Humber North Campus and Lakeshore Campus. The college offers a plethora of ‘Bridge Training’ programs to help work professionals get deeper into the specialised fields of Engineering and Information Technology. It is the first college that received a silver rating in the ‘Sustainability Tracking Assessment Rating System’ of Ontario. The Lakeshore campus of Humber College is located along the picturesque shores of Lake Ontario. The college is divided into 6 faculties namely, Faculty of Applied Sciences & Technology, Faculty of Business, Faculty of Health Sciences & Wellness, Faculty of Liberal Arts & Sciences, Faculty of Media & Creative Arts and Faculty of Social & Community Services, that are offering a plethora of full-time and diploma programs to students from all across the world. The college is also the first in Ontario to offer an integrated Nursing Diploma program partnership with the University of New Brunswick.

Accomplishments and Alumni

 As of April 2016, Humber has the most successful collegiate sports program in Ontario, based on the all-time medal count. Not only that, Radio Humber (96.9 CKHC-FM) was the first radio station in Canada to embrace a 100% Canadian content playlist when it was licenced by the CRTC in 2004. Humber was the first college in Ontario to get the Association for the Advancement of Sustainability in Higher Education's silver rating in 2013. Humber was one of three colleges recognised as Canada's Greenest Employer in 2016. Humber College is globally known for its exceptionally notable alumni network. It encourages cultural diversity by offering courses to students from across the globe. This university has a list of notable alumni who have gained immense recognition in their respective fields. Some of the other notable names include - Greg Well, Nathan Fielder and Nicole Arbour.

Every year, Humber receives more than 71,000 applications, the largest of any institution in Ontario. In addition, the institution accommodates around 4,100 students from over 100 different nations who come to study at Humber.
