EMLyon Business School was established in 1872 as the École SupĂ©rieure de Commerce de Lyon and began classes with only 75 students and 17 Professors. In 1972, the University moved to its present campus site at Ecully, became a member institution in the network of universities across Europe and the world and finally, got its present name as EMLyon Business School, or Ecole de Management Lyon in 1997. One of the oldest Business Schools in Europe, EMLyon is today, a global leader in Business and Management education that is internationally-connected, technologically-advanced and offers top-performing programs to students from and in different parts of the world. What makes EMLyon a Business School distinct is its “early-maker pedagogy,” whereby students are trained in the ropes of “doing to learn, and learning to do” so that fundamental business knowledge is combined with experience which helps students sharpen their business acumen. The Institute is affiliated with the Conferences des Grandes Ecoles (CGE) and the Alliance Lyon Grenoble Business School. EMLyon is also among the 1% of Business Schools worldwide that hold the prestigious Triple Crown Accreditation - EQUIS, AACSB, and AMBA. The Times Higher Education ranks the Institute in the bracket #401-500 in the 2022 Impact Rankings. It is also among the top 3 Business Schools in France in the Management category according to Shanghai Rankings 2021. 

Infrastructure, Campuses and Courses

EMLyon Business School is situated at 7 campus locations in France and around the world - two campuses in India, and one each in China and Morocco. The 3 France locations are strategically situated in the Paris campus, the main Lyon Ecully campus and the Saint-Étienne campus. All EMLyon campuses are modern architectures accompanied by state-of-the-art technological infrastructure to facilitate innovative learning. Campuses are equipped with creativity boards, digital whiteboards, writable walls, maker’s lab and more. Courses at the Undergraduate and Postgraduate levels along with Executive education programs. Students can opt for a Global BBA, Master of Science degrees in 12 specializations, International MBA, Executive MBA, or a PhD degree called Global DBA in partnership with Durham University, or the Asia Track. Specialized certificates and short programs for executives are also offered.

EMLYON Business School has a student population of 15,800+ out of which 8,900+ are undergraduate and postgraduate students, while 6,900 are enrolled in Executive education programs. More than 121 nationalities are represented among the student population. A significant part of student life at EMLyon Business School is getting involved in one of the 56 student associations offering a diverse range of activities on the campus, starting from Fashion, Luxury, Photography, Wine, Entrepreneurship to Arts and Literature, Debating, Music, Dance, and more.
