History, Affiliations and Rankings
The history of Beijing Forestry University dates back to 1902. After more than 100 years of development, the university has become one of the most influential and renowned universities in China. His longstanding commitment to sustainability and rigorous academic programs have earned him great respect not only in China but around the world. Inspired by its motto of being “Champion in Land Stewardship and a Leader in Forestry Education”. Beijing Forestry University trains a large number of forestry and ecological research professionals in its many world-class programs. The faculty of the university consists of industry experts and leading scientists, especially in the field of forestry. Among them are 16 scholars from the renowned Chinese Academy of Sciences. Through their expertise, they continue to make significant contributions to the global Sustainable Development Goals. The university is under the direct administration of the Ministry of Education (MOE) and is technically affiliated with the State Forest Service (SFA). It is at #994 in Best Global Universities, #264 in Best Global Universities in Asia and #103 in Best Global Universities in China.
Infrastructure, Campuses and Courses
In addition to studying, the campus offers many opportunities for social contacts and extracurricular activities. There are student organizations dedicated to Beijing Opera, dance, music, fine arts and Chinese kung fu, the largest of which is the prestigious Mountaineering Association. Foodies will also be pleased to know that Beijing Forestry University cafeterias are famous for offering authentic and delicious Chinese food and many dishes from around the world. The university offers 57 undergraduate programs, 116 master’s programs, 39 doctoral programs, and five postdoctoral research stations. The university has 14 schools, School of Art, School of Biological Sciences and Biotechnology, School of Economics and Management, School of Environmental Science and Engineering, School of Foreign Languages, School of Forestry, School of Humanities and Social Sciences, School of Information Science and Technology, School of Landscape Architecture, School of Material Science and Technology, School of Nature Conservation, School of Science, School of Soil and Water Conservation and School of Technology. The university specialises in forestry and offers programs including, Soil and Water Conservation, Agrostology, Bioenvironmental Science of Urban and Rural Human Settlements, Forest Engineering, Wood Science and Technology, International Trade, Philosophy of Science and Technology, Ecology, Biology, Botany, and Landscape Architecture.

The university has established partnerships with more than 170 higher education institutes in 30 different countries. These international relationships allow the university to participate in academic, scientific and technological exchanges. The university is proud of its sustainability work and green projects. Each year, university staff and students participate in environmental awareness events such as the Green Long March and the EcoCivilization Bimonthly Forum. Ying Li (Researcher), He Qiaonv (founder of Beijing Orient Landscape, one of Asia's largest landscape architecture companies), Cui Yuying (Deputy Head of the Propaganda Department of the Chinese Communist Party) are some notable alumni of the university.

The total number of students is 19,886 of which international students are 295. The total number of academic staff is 1,395, the number of international staff is 36, the number of undergraduate degrees awarded is 3,271, the number of master's degrees awarded is 1,484, and the number of doctoral degrees awarded is 274. The number of research-only staff is 373, the number of new undergraduate students is 3,434, the number of new master's students is 1,598 and the number of new doctoral students is 715.
