Founded in 1893, American University is a private research university located in Washington D.C, United States. Infrastructure, Campuses and Courses

American University maintains a cutting-edge campus to provide students with the best-in-class educational experience. On-campus, there are high-tech laboratories, libraries, art studios, computer labs, and high-speed Wi-Fi. Surprisingly, the campus's electricity is entirely derived from renewable sources. It has two campuses for academic and student housing: the main campus on Massachusetts Avenue and the East Campus on Nebraska Avenue. Some of the most famous buildings at the university are Abbey Joel Butler Pavilion, Battelle-Tompkins Building, Hurst Hall, Kerwin Hall, McKinley Building, Hughes Hall, Leonard Hall and McDowell Hall. The university's main campus spans 90 acres with more than 14,000 undergraduate, graduate and law students. The university has eight schools and colleges: the School of International Service, College of Arts and Sciences, Kogod School of Business, School of Communication, School of Professional and Extended Studies, School of Public Affairs, School of Education, and the Washington College of Law (WCL). There are 80 bachelor's degrees, 98 master's degrees, and 11 doctoral degrees available, as well as JD, MLS, LLM, and SJD programmes at the Washington College of Law. It also provides graduate certifications and master's degrees online.

Accomplishments and Alumni 

American University is a research university accredited by the Carnegie Foundation for the Advancement of Teaching. Its mission is to advance the field of knowledge by bringing together breakthroughs from the arts, social sciences, humanities, natural sciences, and business. More than 30 specialised research centres and institutes have been established at the university. In addition, professors with extensive experience make up the faculty at American University. Notably, 94% of faculty members have earned the highest level of education in their areas. The top alumni, faculty and staff include two Pulitzer Prize winners, two Nobel Prize winners, 25 United States Representatives, one United States Senator, 18 Ambassadors of the United States, and several foreign heads of state. The university places a high priority on students' holistic development. More than 250 student clubs and organisations participate in athletics, the performing arts, and other leisure activities at the university. Additionally, students can participate in a variety of community service activities. There are roughly 14,318 students enrolled at American University, with 8,207 undergraduates and 2,997 graduate students. The full-time undergraduate population of The American University is made up of 62% women and 38% males. In addition, women make up 65% of full-time graduate students, while males make up 35%.
