DRDO Scholarship Scheme for Girls

The Defense Research and Development Organization (DRDO) Scholarship Scheme is established by the Research and Development wing of the Ministry of Defense. This scholarship scheme provides scholarships for undergraduate and postgraduate-level girls. It is provided by the Aeronautics Research and Development Board (AR & DB). A total of 30 scholarships are offered out of which 20 are for undergraduate students and the remaining 10 are for postgraduate students. Eligibility Criteria for Scholarship 

The students who want to apply for the Defense Research and Development Organization (DRDO) Scholarship Scheme for girls need to fulfill certain eligibility criteria. 

Eligibility Criteria for Undergraduate 

• There are a total of 20 scholarships available for undergraduate girls. 
• The girls or women should be studying in the first year of a full-time undergraduate degree (four years).
• They should be pursuing a degree from streams such as aerospace engineering, aeronautical engineering, space engineering, rocketry, avionics and aircraft engineering.
• The candidate must be an Indian National. 
• The candidate applying for the scholarship must have been admitted in the first year of the current academic year into the relevant bachelor’s level engineering course. 
• The candidate should have cleared JEE (main) and should have a valid score for the same. 

Eligibility Criteria for Postgraduate

• The girls or women who are studying for a full-time postgraduate degree (two years) can also apply for the scholarship program. 
• They should be pursuing a degree from streams such as aerospace engineering, aeronautical engineering, space engineering, rocketry, avionics and aircraft engineering.
• The candidate must be an Indian National. 
• The candidate applying for the scholarship must have been admitted in the first year of the current academic year into the relevant master’s level engineering course. 
• The candidates must have scored a minimum of 60% marks in the graduation level examination. 
• The candidates should have cleared GATE (General Aptitude Test in Engineering) and should have a valid score for the same.

Application Process for Scholarship 

Candidates who wish to apply for the scholarship program need to visit the Defense Research and Development Organization (DRDO) Scholarship Scheme website and click on the application form section. A detailed process on how to apply for the scholarship is given below:

• The candidates should know that the scholarship is available for a total of 30 students only. 20 for graduate courses and 10 for post-graduation courses. 
• The candidates applying for the scholarship have to visit the official website of DRDO and look for the scholarship link. 
• After clicking on the link, the candidate has to fill in all the required details. They have to also choose their preferred profile as a graduate or postgraduate student. 
• After filling in all the necessary details, the candidate has to upload all the documents that have been asked for and the scanned copies of the certificates. After filling out the application, pay the application fee and submit it. 
• It is also advised that the students should print out the form for their future reference. 

Important Documents Required to Apply for the Scholarship

Candidates who wish to apply for the scholarship program need to have certain documents with them while applying for the scholarship. The documents are mentioned below:

• Proof of admission copy
• Valid ID proof (Aadhar card)
• Passport size photograph (coloured)
• A coloured printout of the submitted application form 
• Marksheets of valid GATE (for PG) and JEE (for UG)
• Scanned copies of each of the requisite certificates with an online scholarship application.

Selection Process for the Scholarship 

The DRDO officials will consider the score of the aspirants in the national-level entrance exam. The candidates applying for the scholarship need to have a valid score in their particular exam for selection. There is a certain selection criterion for the candidates who want to apply for the DRDO scholarship. The criteria are as follows:

• The selection for the postgraduate course will be based on the valid GATE score, that is merit basis. Candidates who do not have a valid score will not be considered. 
• The selection process for the undergraduate course will be based on the valid JEE (main) score. Candidates who do not have a valid score will not be considered.
