• Candidates can attempt the IIT JEE Mains exam for a maximum of three consecutive years. 
• Once a candidate performs well and qualifies in the IIT JEE Mains exam, they become eligible to appear for the IIT JEE Advanced exam. However, they must also meet additional eligibility criteria for IIT JEE Advanced, such as:

In JEE Main Paper 1, the candidate must rank within the top 2,50,000, including reserved category students.

• General category candidates need to obtain a minimum of 75% marks in the 12th-grade board exams, with Mathematics, Physics, and any other compulsory subject, while reserved category candidates must achieve a minimum of 65% marks.
• Candidates are eligible to appear for JEE Advanced in the two consecutive years following the year they appear for the 12th-grade exam.
