BHU caters to the needs of its vibrant student community, offering over 60 hostels. These hostels can accommodate more than 12,000 students across the Banaras Hindu University Campus Area. The Sayaji Rao Gaekwad Library, established in 1941, serves as the main library on campus. The library has an impressive collection of over 1.3 million volumes. This architectural marvel was made possible by the generous contribution of Maharaja Sayaji Rao Gaekwad of Baroda.

Sir Sunderlal Hospital is a teaching hospital affiliated with the Institute of Medical Sciences. The hospital is located inside the BHU campus. The construction of this grand complex commenced in 1931 and took nearly three decades to complete. 

The temple is a sacred space where students and faculty find solace and spiritual rejuvenation. The Bharat Kala Bhavan on the BHU campus is a treasure trove of Indian heritage. The esteemed art and archaeological museum was established in 1920. Initially, it was chaired by Nobel Laureate Rabindranath Tagore, with his nephew Abanindranath Tagore serving as the vice-chairman. 

Within its walls, visitors can explore a remarkable collection of Indian paintings, archaeological artefacts, and even philately exhibits. The Alice Boner Gallery, established in 1989, further enriches the museum’s offerings and commemorates the birth centenary of Alice Boner.

The Splendor of Rajiv Gandhi South Campus

The Rajiv Gandhi South Campus (RGSC) adds another dimension to BHU’s educational prowess. It is located in Barkaccha which is approximately 60 kilometres southwest of the main campus. This campus was leased to BHU in perpetuity by the Bharat Mandal Trust in 1979.

The RGSC serves as a hub for agricultural research, emphasizing techniques suitable for the unique Vindhya Range region. In addition to the Krishi Vigyan Kendra, the South Campus boasts a lecture complex, library, student hostels, faculty housing, and administrative block.
