Panjab University conducts the Panjab University Undergraduate Law (PU UG Law) exam. This year students will be admitted on the basis of their 12th marks. The exam date for admission to the B.A. LLB and B.com LLB programs will be announced soon. The mode of the exam is offline. There will be a total of 100 questions, each for one mark. The question will be objective, and the time duration is 90 minutes. The paper comprises 4 sections, and in all 4 sections, students should devote equal effort to studying and learning all the relevant topics. The level of competition has increased over time, and therefore students must study the fundamentals thoroughly. It is advisable that students practice a variety of sample papers and mock tests and strengthen their weak areas for better performance. General Knowledge and Current Affairs

The section contains 60 questions. To perform well in the section, students must be updated with the current affairs in different areas. However, a few of the questions will be based on topics like Politics, Geography, Economics, Ancient, Medieval, Modern, and World History, International organizations, General Science, Environment & Ecology, Science and Technology, current National & International issues, Awards, and Achievements, Books and Authors, Environment. The pattern has been the same for the past year. Still, you can refer to the given topics and prepare accordingly.

The section contains 20 questions and tests the legal aptitude of the aspirants. The applicant must understand the fundamentals of law and thoughtfully prepare for this section.

There will be questions from the Indian Constitution, the Indian Contract Act, Family Law, the Indian Penal Code, International Law, the Law of Torts, Constitutional Law and Polity, Legal Maxims, Intellectual Property Rights, and Landmark Supreme Court Judgments.

English Language

The candidate’s knowledge of the English language will be tested in this section. The section carries 20 marks and comprises questions from English Vocabulary, Synonyms, Antonyms, Analogies, Idioms and Phrases, One-word Substitution, Sentence Improvement & re-arrangement, Fill in the blanks,  Subject-verb Agreement, Noun/Pronoun/Articles & Conjunctions, English Usage Errors, grammatical errors-tense, voice, preposition usage, speech errors, correct spelling, spotting errors, inappropriate usage of words.

Mental Ability

This section contains 10 questions on a variety of logical and analytical topics. The section tests the candidate’s aptitude for logical reasoning, pattern recognition, and the ability to identify and mark logical arguments. The candidate’s capacity to comprehend relationships and form logical inferences will be assessed. Moreover, questions will come from the topics like Directions, Critical Reasoning, Syllogism, Series, Blood Relations, Analogy, etc.

Will the exam comprise objective or subjective questions?

The paper is completely objective. Students have to mark the correct answer on the OMR sheet.

I am weak in English; can I write the exam in Hindi?

The PU UG law exam is conducted in three languages. You can choose from English, Hindi, and Punjabi. But note that the English language section has to be attempted only in English.

What is the required passing mark for the PU UG LAW entrance exam?

For general and OBC candidates, the passing mark is 15%, while for SC/ST, backward class, and PWD, the eligibility mark is 10%.

What is the difficulty level of the PU UG Law exam?
