In 1927, he partnered with Ken Decker to establish a business in Los Angeles that crafted speaker drivers for radio sets and consoles. The enterprise was christened Lansing Manufacturing Company on March 1, 1927.
By 1933, the company had begun producing bass drivers and compression drivers for MGM’s audio division. It maintained a close collaboration with Shearer Horn and eventually pioneered an iconic loudspeaker system tailored for cinematic experiences.
In 1941, the company was acquired by Altec Service Corporation, and once the contract concluded, Lansing established Lansing Sound Inc. The year 1946 saw the creation of the D101 loudspeaker model and D175 drivers.
Subsequently, the operational ownership shifted to Jervis Corporation and underwent a rebranding as JBL under Harman International. In the 1980s, the company introduced novel products to the market and unveiled the remarkable dual voice technology.
