The full form of GFR is the Glomerular Filtration Rate. The GFR is a key indicator of kidney function and is used to measure how well the kidneys are filtering waste products from the blood. Furthermore, the GFR specifically refers to the rate at which blood is filtered by the glomeruli, which are tiny structures in the kidneys responsible for screening blood and removing waste. What is the GFR Test?

The GFR test is a medical assessment that measures the efficiency of the kidneys in filtering waste products from the blood. In addition, it serves as an essential indicator of kidney function and helps diagnose and monitor kidney diseases. Subsequently, the GFR is calculated using mathematical formulas that take into account factors like serum creatinine levels, age, gender, and sometimes race. This test is necessary for evaluating the overall health of the kidneys and is frequently employed in clinical settings to guide treatment decisions.

Furthermore, the average per Age GFR rate is-

Upto Age 30- 90 mL/min/173 m²

From 31 to 60 years- 60 mL/min/173 m²

From 61 to 90 years- 30 mL/min/173 m²
