Conducted by the Staff Selection Commission(SSC), the CGL is a national level exam which is used to recruit potential candidates for the Grade “B” and “C” posts at various Government of India departments, ministries, and organizations. SSC CGL 2021: Overview

The SSC CGL 2021 will be conducted in four-tiers namely, Tier I, Tier II, Tier III, and Tier IV. While the first two levels will be computer-based, the tier-III will be a paper-based test. Those who qualify the first three levels will be then required to appear for the computer proficiency or data entry skill tests. At this stage, the candidates also have to verify various documents. However, the final selection of the candidates will depend on the number of vacancies and the performance at every phase. The dates mentioned below are important to ensure that potential candidates do not face challenges in terms of this examination:

SSC CGL 2021: Eligibility Criteria

Since there are numerous posts and job profiles available for candidates after clearing the SSC CGL 2020 exam, the eligibility criteria may vary. But, there are some common prerequisites for all the vacancies which have been listed below: 

  • The minimum and maximum age for appearing for the exam is 18 to 32 years respectively. 
  • The candidate must hold a Bachelor’s degree from a recognized university or institute.
  • For profiles such as Sub Inspector in Central Bureau of Investigation or the National Investigation Agency or Inspector (Examiner/ Preventative Officer/Central Excise), candidates also have to clear physical fitness test to be considered eligible. 

Exam Pattern

As mentioned above, the exam is conducted in 4 modes and all of them follow a different pattern. Here is a brief overview of the exam pattern of all the levels:

Tier 1 Pattern

This is an objective paper that is held in online mode. It consists of 100 questions which are divided into 4 sections. For each correct answer, 2 marks are awarded and ¼ of the marks are deducted for every incorrect answer. The bifurcation of marks are tabulated below:

Tier II Pattern

This level of the SSC CGL 2021 is also held in an online mode and is an objective exam. For every wrong answer, ¼ of the marks are deducted. Given below are the sections of this level:

Tier III Pattern

In this tier, the writing skills of the candidates are tested in both Hindi and English languages. The applicants are required to write essays, applications or emails within an hour and the marks allocated to this section are 100 marks. 

SSC CGL Application Form

The Staff Selection Commission on the 29th of December released the SSC CGL 2020-21 notification. The application form for the same has also been released. The form has to be filled and submitted by aspiring candidates by January 31st 2021. The tier I exam of the SSC CGL will be conducted from May 29th till June 7th.

How to fill SSC CGL Application Form?

There are two parts to the filling up of the Application form for SSC CGL. candidates can fill the form on the official website of the Commission. All aspiring candidates should follow the steps mentioned below:

  • Go on the official web page of the SSC CGL (ssc.nic.in)
  • Go on the button of ‘New User’ and then click on ‘Register Now’
  • Fill up the SSC CGL application form entirely
  • You will be provided with a registration number. Log in to the registered account by using the registration number and password (which you will set at the time of registration)
  • Fill all the required details in the SSC CGL application form.
  • You must have scanned copies of your passport size photos and your signature as well as other important documents.
  • Before you click on the button of ‘Submit’ you must revise the form and go through it to make sure you have not missed out on any important information.
  • Pay the SSC CGL application fees either online or in offline more. The amount of the fees is INR 100.
