History, Affiliations and Rankings
One of Finland's biggest universities, the University of Oulu is situated in the city of Oulu. Established on July 8, 1958, it is a leading international Science University known for its research innovation, knowledge production and for being one of the most multidisciplinary universities in Finland. Around 13,000 students and 2,900 employees attend the university. The university has 21 international master's programmes available. It has affiliations with Compostela EUA UArctic. University of Oulu is ranked #422 in Best Global Universities.
Infrastructure, Campuses and Courses
The main campus building at Linnanmaa is a sizable complex with connections between all of its components. It houses important lecture rooms, dining establishments, and other amenities in addition to the faculties of technology, science, humanities, education, information technology, and electrical engineering, as well as the Oulu Business School and Oulu School of Architecture. Five kilometers to the north of Oulu's city center is where the campus is situated. Numerous residential structures, a chapel, and a sports arena are located on the campus. The Oulu University Hospital and the faculties of medicine, biochemistry, and molecular medicine are located on the Kontinkangas campus.

Many innovations that have changed the world have their roots in Oulu. About three billion people around the world use daily technology developed in Oulu. The University of Oulu is a leader in 6G innovation and research, as well as being well-known internationally for its electronic and artificial intelligence work. Graduates of ICT programmes get practical skills and fundamental knowledge of the newest procedures, devices, and technologies that have a substantial impact on our day-to-day life. Some of the alumni are Martti Ahtisaari (former President of Finland), Helena Aksela (first lady professor of physics), and Finland Pekka Aikio (President of the Sami Parliament of Finland)
Student Diversity and Visiting Companies
The university's foreign student union coordinates often with the international office to plan cultural events and educational lectures. Approximately 70% of the university's students are from Finland, and 30% are international. Many reputed companies visit this university for placement which are Accenture, Microsoft, NID, Lenovo and others.
