What are the Criteria and Eligibility for the PTE Exam?

The PTE exam is conducted in order to determine a candidate’s English language proficiency. Candidates who aim to study in a foreign university or migrate abroad often take this exam to establish their English proficiency.

PTE Exam Eligibility 

The conducting body for the PTE exam does not specify any particular criteria for taking the PTE exam apart from the minimum age requirement that a candidate should be aware of. Given this, candidates should also look into the criteria set by various universities and countries in addition to the PTE so that they are able to fulfil the requirements beforehand.

Age 

This is the only requirement that has been defined by the conducting body for taking the PTE exam. The candidates have to be at least 16 years old while taking the exam. 

If the candidate is under the age of 18, he or she must provide proof of parental consent to be able to sit for the PTE exam.

Educational Qualification 

The PTE Academic Board has not established any educational qualification eligibility criteria. The only requirement is that applicants be fluent in English in order to take the exam.

Nationality 

The PTE Academic exam is open to individuals of all nationalities, who must adhere to the same set of exam rules. However, according to the PTE official website, the exam can only be taken by applicants who have a valid, latest, and legible identity proof document.

PTE Application Process 

Candidates who wish to register for the PTE exam 2023 must follow the steps outlined below in order to successfully book their PTE exam slot. Candidates should keep in mind that in order to book your PTE Academic online, you must have a valid ID. Candidates must also present a valid ID on the day of the PTE exam or they will be denied entry to the PTE Test Center.

• Create your Pearson account by entering your personal information.
• Pearson will send you an email with your login information within 48 hours of completing the PTE registration process.
• The next step is to look for a PTE test centre near you.
• At this stage, candidates can also choose to take the PTE at Home test.
• Choose a suitable time and date to take the PTE exam.
• After entering all of your information, such as time, date, and PTE slot, you will be directed to the checkout button.
• Then pay the PTE Exam Fee of INR 15,900 Indian rupees to complete registration.
