Q. Do you agree or disagree with the below statement? A mother plays a more vital role in taking care of the child compared to the father. Use examples to support your opinion.

Ans. I agree with the statement that a mother plays a more vital role in taking care of a child than a father. This is not to undermine the importance of a father’s role but to highlight the unique contributions of a mother.

The bond between a mother and child often begins when the child is in the womb. These early connections lay the foundation for a strong relationship in future. This is primarily because babies start to recognise their mother’s voice while still in the womb, indicating an early preference and attachment. Besides, mothers are the primary caregivers, especially in the early years of a child’s life. They are usually the ones to feed, bathe and soothe the child, meeting their basic needs of day-to-day life which forms a deep emotional bond. For instance, a mother’s comforting presence can help a child navigate through difficult times, such as starting a school or dealing with bullies.

Furthermore, mothers often take the role of emotional coaches who guide their children in understanding and healthily expressing their feelings. A mother’s empathetic approach can teach a child about being compassionate and kind, such as when comforting a child who is upset about a lost toy, which can instil emotional resilience in the child. Moreover, mothers often play a significant role in a child’s education. They are the first teachers that a child has, teaching them basic skills like speaking, reading and writing. For example, a mother who reads bedtime stories to their child, not only strengthens their bond but also improves the child’s language skills and sparks their imagination.

In conclusion, while both parents play a crucial role in a child’s upbringing, a mother’s role in taking care of a child is multifaceted and vital. From being the first teacher to providing emotional security, a mother’s contribution to a child’s upbringing is immense.
