According to the ‘Open Doors 2023 report’ on international educational exchange, Indian students who are studying in universities in America have risen by 35%. For the academic year 2022-23 Indian students enrolment are 2,68,923. The ‘Open Doors 2023 report’ is released by the United States (US) department of state’s bureau of educational and cultural affairs.

The key factor in this huge surge is the unexpected issuance of F1 visas by the US government to Indian students in 2022. In recent years, this is the surge in the number of Indian students studying in the USA.

A Negative Growth Rate Among The Chinese Students

Above report showed that in the 2022-23 academic year, China is the leading country for students studying in the US, China’s 2,89,526 students were studying in the USA. Additionally, it showed a negative growth rate of -0.2% compared to the previous year.

Computer Science Showed A Substantial Growth

Many experts are saying that there has been a tremendous 40% growth in admission among master’s students. On the other hand, the students enrolled in the doctorate program only saw  a five percent growth. In bachelors, Indian students showed a 13% increase in enrollment. Computer science saw a very substantial growth, with a mammoth 51% year-over-year increase. From India the total number of students who enrolled for the CS course was 1,10,796. 

A Significant Growth For Engineering Too

Engineering also saw a marvelous growth, with 72,300 students, posting a 23% surge. Indian students also showed a huge interest to pursue education in STEM fields, surrounding Engineering, Science, Technology and Medicine.

Experts on the other hand, also suggest that expenses related to pursuing UG and doctoral studies in US universities are proportionally lower compared with the United Kingdom.

In the USA, the educational choices of Indian students showed male students on the rise. Around 45% of female students from India are currently enrolled in American universities. In the course enrollment the maximum chunk of the population is between the ages of 18 to 24, with the 25 to 35 age group are far behind.
