Study Abroad How UK-India signing of exchange letters will affect Indian students
The Young Professionals Scheme has been regarded as an effective part of the UK-India Migration and Mobility.

The government of the UK and India celebrated Pravasi Bharatiya Divas on January 9, 2023, by introducing the Young Professionals Scheme, which will help more than 3,000 Indian students aged 18 and 30 to work and live in each other’s country for up to two years. This is great news for Indian students who want to study abroad at reputed UK universities.

The introduction of this scheme, which was conceived by the India-UK Migration and Mobility was signed on May 2021. However, the move has been announced at the G20 summit in November, where Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi had a discussion with UK Prime Minister Rishi Sunak.

The High Commission of India in London stated that letters were signed as well as exchanged after the completion of the ceremony. Vikram Doraiswami, High Commissioner, said that this Young Professionals Scheme will run for three years during the initial stages.

However, he also hinted that there are some specific processes that have to be completed before the introduction of this visa scheme in March. The condition of this scheme has been put on hold for a while. Therefore, the government don’t want to announce a date before they are 100% certain.

Not only young Indian students but also students from the UK will be able to travel to each other countries to complete their higher education. Additionally, working professionals can also travel to work and stay in the country for two years. This scheme will grant exchange visas to 3,000 individuals every year.

Mr Doraiswami also stated that professionals don’t need to showcase job offers while leveraging the benefits of this visa scheme. Successful candidates can search and apply for jobs once they reach the host country. This will help them search for more lucrative job offers within the country without being pressurized.
