The application procedure for the GSLS Fellowships involves two phases. Initially, all submitted applications are screened, and subsequently, interviews are conducted (either in person or via video chat, depending on the applicant’s location).

GSLS Travel Fellowship- Eligibility Criteria 

To be eligible for this fellowship, candidates must possess the following qualifications:

• A strong interest in and hands-on experience in conducting research.
• A well-defined focus on the area of work they wish to pursue.
• A recent outstanding university degree, typically an M.Sc. or Diploma, obtained within the past two years. If graduation is anticipated by January 2016, applicants are eligible to apply.
• Demonstrated exceptional proficiency in spoken and written English (which will be evaluated during an interview) and a willingness to acquire basic proficiency in German (training will be provided).
• Enthusiasm for collaborating in an interdisciplinary and international setting.

GSLS Travel Fellowship- Benefits 

The amount of funding provided for travel fellowships depends on the location of the attended meeting or activity:

• Within Germany: a maximum of 300 EUR
• Within Europe: a maximum of 500 EUR
• Outside of Europe: a maximum of 1,000 EUR

GSLS Travel Fellowship- Application Process

The candidates who are eligible for the GSLS Travel Fellowship can refer to the application process mentioned below: 

• Prior to the conference, workshop, or research stay, please submit an application (in English) that includes a statement expressing your motivation and relevant details. 
• Additionally, provide a copy of your talk or poster abstract and confirmation of your presentation once it has been accepted by the conference organizers. 
• Please include the estimated or actual costs associated with your attendance at the conference, workshop, or research stay. Include your up-to-date CV, which should include your publication record. 
• Lastly, include a reference letter from your primary supervisor. 
• Please be aware that the GSLS travel fellowship does not cover the daily allowance (“Tagegeld”), and the full amount of the travel grant may not be awarded.
