Conditions for ERASMUS Internship

Though this is an alluring opportunity, it has certain conditions to fulfill to be eligible for an ERASMUS internship. Here are those; 

• You must be enrolled in an education program at an institution that holds an Erasmus Charter for Higher Education (ECHE) certificate. 
• You can contact your university to confirm if they hold the certificate. 
• You can also be a recent graduate to apply. 
• The internship you apply for must be related to your degree program. 
• For each cycle of studies, only 12 months of mobility opportunities are allowed. 
• If you have completed your degree you can apply for an internship within one year. 
• You must meet the eligibility criteria for the internship. 
• And, visas, residence permits, social security, etc for the destined country will also be required. 

Eligible Internships

Here is a checklist to decide if your internship is eligible for funding. 

• The internship must be full-time. Which means they should do at least 30 hours per week of work.
• Voluntary and compulsory internships both are included in the program. 
• Also, regular internships, research internships, praxis-related final theses, or semester theses and projects are all included under these internships. 
• Only internships that prove to be useful towards your current degree or future programs are eligible. 
• The internships must be at least 2 months in duration and a maximum of 12 months for a single study cycle.  
• The internship must invite you to work abroad in the host country, no remote work is eligible under ERASMUS. 
• Your maximum gross earnings should be equal to or under 1000€ per month. 
• Lastly, internships in EU institutions and bodies managing EU programs are not eligible.

How to Apply for ERASMUS Internships?

To apply for ERASMUS internships you have to visit the internship page of ERASMUS intern. Here is a short application procedure:

1. Go to the internship section of the ERASMUS official website or Click Here. 
2. Select the internship of your choice and go through the eligibility criteria. 
3. Click on the link provided at the end of the internship description. 
4. You will land on the page of the employer. 
5. Click on the application link given on the page. 
6. Fill in your details and attach documents. 
7. Submit your application. 
8. Wait for the employer’s response 
9. You can contact them through e-mail in case of a delay in response. 
10. Please note that the application process and documents required for each employer might be different and you will need to apply accordingly. 
11. Lastly, contact the mobility office of your university to avail funds. 
12. After all parties have been shortlisted, they must sign the learning agreement, and then you will receive 70% of your grant.
13. The rest 30% is released once you complete your internship program and the parties sign the learning agreement again.

Grant Value   

The ERASMUS support includes travel and accommodation costs in the hosting country in the form of monthly grants. Various factors affecting the grant amount include; 

• Cost of living in the country of internship
• Number of students applying 
• Financial resources of the institution sending grants.

Duration 

The duration of internships sponsored by ERASMUS is between 2 months to 12 months. Internship programs that are less than 2 months in duration will not be funded and the same for those above 12 months. However, if you have applied for an internship during your bachelor’s and exhausted your duration, you can apply for another internship during your master’s or doctorate program. Also, your working hours can be anywhere above 30 hours a week to avail of the grant.
