Before moving on, it is important to remember that there are numerous theories about the birthplace of Jesus Christ. It is widely believed that he was born in Israel’s Bethlehem to Mary and Joseph. Bethlehem is a town situated in the Judean Hills south of Jerusalem. According to the Gospels (Matthew 2; Luke 2), Bethlehem is the birthplace of Jesus Christ. Moreover, Christian beliefs and theology state that the birth of Christ was actually meant to fulfill the prophecy mentioned in the Old Testament. It talked about the coming of Israel’s future ruler from Bethlehem Ephathah (Micah 5:2).

In the Bible, the city of Bethlehem is often mentioned as Bethlehem Ephrathah or Bethlehem Judah. The term Bethlehem is first seen in connection with Rachel who died on the wayside somewhere near the city (Genesis 35:19).
