The site where the Church of the Nativity in Bethlehem is constructed is widely accepted as the birthplace of Christ. In the 3rd century, St. Helena, the mother of Constantine constructed a Church above the birthplace of Jesus Christ. It was destroyed due to the outbreak of a massive fire.
The architecture that replaced the Church contains intricate floor mosaics from the original structure. According to UNESCO, the holy site also houses numerous churches and convents that are mostly Latin, Orthodox, Franciscan, Greek, and Armenian.
