What is the Place of Origin of Jesus Christ?

Before moving on, it is important to remember that there are numerous theories about the birthplace of Jesus Christ. It is widely believed that he was born in Israel’s Bethlehem to Mary and Joseph. When they entered the city, all the inns were crowded which left them with only one option of staying in horse stables where eventually Christ was born. The baby was placed in a water trough in the cave which was used as an animal shelter or storage unit during that time.

Bethlehem is a town situated in the Judean Hills south of Jerusalem. According to the Gospels (Matthew 2; Luke 2), Bethlehem is the birthplace of Jesus Christ. Moreover, Christian beliefs and theology state that the birth of Christ was actually meant to fulfill the prophecy mentioned in the Old Testament. It talked about the coming of Israel’s future ruler from Bethlehem Ephathah (Micah 5:2).

In the Bible, the city of Bethlehem is often mentioned as Bethlehem Ephrathah or Bethlehem Judah. The term Bethlehem is first seen in connection with Rachel who died on the wayside somewhere near the city (Genesis 35:19).
