Objective: Sanskriti Geddes Scholarship

The main objective of the Sanskriti Geddes Scholarship is to develop interest and an in-depth understanding of Patrick’s principles of planning a town. This will provide awareness among young planners and architects.

Eligibility Criteria

The eligibility criteria to avail of the Geddes scholarship are as follows: 

  • The applicant should be an Indian citizen
  • Student’s age must be between 20-30 years
  • The student should be pursuing architecture at an undergraduate/postgraduate or research level from a recognized university or should be a young practitioner 
  • Students can apply as an individual or a group of individuals
  • The candidate should not be availing of any other scholarship at the same time.

Benefits of the Geddes Scholarship

The benefits provided by the Geddes scholarship to the selected candidates are: 

  • Selected candidates will get INR 45,000 as their scholarship reward
  • The scholarship will be provided for six months
  • The scholarship will be provided in two instalments – one at the beginning of the project and the second after the completion of the project report. 

Terms and Conditions

Certain things are required by the applicant to be done,  such as

  • The students must submit an interim report 3 months after the start of the scholarship. 
  • The report will be circulated to the committee who will review and check. 
  • After reviewing the report, the committee will suggest changes if needed. 
  • After the successful completion of the study, the scholars will present their findings in a seminar that will be held in Delhi. 
  • Applicants will be required to sign an agreement with the Sanskriti Foundation. 
  • If the terms and conditions are not fulfilled, the scholarship amount will be taken back. 

Important Dates

The scholarship is open throughout the year. Therefore, the students can submit their applications during any month of the year. 

Application Process

The application procedure for Sanskriti Geddes Scholarship 2024 is-

  • Send CV:  The applicants will have to submit a two-page curriculum vitae along with a proposal seeking interest in a scholarship. 
  • Proposal: The proposal should be written in 1500 words mentioning their city or a section and must contain the methodology of a diagnostic survey and a visible strategic option for the renewal of cities in India. 
  • Attachments: The applicants must attach their names and contact details with two referees. 
  • Name of scholarship: The name of the scholarship must be written on top of the envelope

Selection Process

After completion of the application process,  comes the selection process. All the students who clear the eligibility and have fulfilled all the criteria required by the foundation are moved to the other. After shortlisting the students, a committee is set up which creates the list of final students based on their academics and other records. The selected candidates are informed about their selection through mail and after approval from both sides, the funds are released. 

Responsibilities 

There are various responsibilities that a candidate has to perform such as: 

  • The proposal should consist of a plan of action which should include field visits
  • After 3 months, students have to submit an interim report to the committee
  • The candidate should not be holding any other scholarship
  • The candidate should perform well academically
  • If necessary, the candidate may have to visit Delhi for seminars
  • Students will have to create town plans regularly
