BHU Grants and Scholarships

Individuals who want to further their studies at the prestigious Banaras Hindu University but are unable to do so owing to financial constraints are eligible for the BHU Scholarship. The scholarship scheme is intended to provide monetary aid to such candidates. Have a look at the following list of grants offered by the said programme.

  • Students belonging to the financially weaker sections of society will be provided with lunch and dinner services due to the inclusion of a ‘Free Meal Facility’ at BHU. One must keep in mind that the facility is available for only 50 poor bonafide students. 
  •  Twenty visually impaired individuals will get the stated service under the esteemed “Annadaan Yojna” and an additional reimbursement of INR 5,000 (annually) to cover their academic expenditures. 
  • Meritorious candidates who secure the First and Second Ranks at the institution will be provided with a remuneration of INR 4,000 and INR 3,000 respectively.
  • One hundred students hailing from financially weaker backgrounds will be provided with a reimbursement of INR 2,000 (annually) to aid their academic journey. 
  • 25 Physically disadvantaged candidates will be offered a one-time grant of INR 4,000. 

BHU Scholarship Eligibility Criteria

Individuals who wish to avail the benefits of the BHU Scholarship Programme must meet the eligibility criteria. Students who had given up on their dream of receiving an unparalleled education would now be able to do so thanks to the availability of various lucrative scholarship opportunities at BHU.

The schemes offered by the institution are designed to help such individuals cover their academic expenditures as well as hostel and food expenses. Have a look at the following list of prerequisites that must be met by candidates to benefit from the programme. 

  • It is a mandate for Class 11 and Class 12 students to secure a minimum aggregate score of at least 60% in their annual examinations. Those who can get a 7 CGPA  will also be deemed eligible for the scholarship programme. 
  • Candidates must maintain an attendance of 75% throughout their academic year. Students will be needed to procure their attendance certificates to be deemed eligible. 
  • Students must ensure to maintain a decent track record of discipline and behaviour throughout their academic tenure. One must not have negative reports concerning his/her code of conduct on school premises.  
  • The annual income of an applicant’s parent/ guardian should not exceed INR 1 Lakh.
  • Those who have already received scholarships from any other sources will not be considered eligible for the said programme.

How to Apply for BHU Scholarship?

Candidates from financially disadvantaged backgrounds who wish to further their education are urged to apply for the BHU Scholarship Programme. Individuals who intend to benefit from the scholarship scheme must complete the registration forms for the successful application process. Students will be chosen based on their merit. 

  1. Students are required to send the filled-in application forms to the designated address, i.e., “Shri Pradip K Thakur, Duty. General Manager & I/C (Steel) & Hony Secretary, BHU Alumni Association, Basement, CET, SAIL, Shyamali Colony, P.O.-Doranda”, Ranchi-834002.” 
  2. Shortlisted candidates will be called for further interview rounds. Candidates must procure their original documents during the submission of registration forms.

Applicants are requested to submit the following documents during the BHU Scholarship registration process. The stated credentials must be authentic with no discrepancies or a hint of fraudulence. The requisite documents are: 

  1. Certificate of Income (Photocopy) 
  2. Registration Form (BHU Scholarship) 
  3. Mark Sheet (Photocopy) 
  4. Character Certificate (approved and signed by the principal of the school) 
  5. Attendance Certificate of the candidate (signed by the principal) 
  6. Declaration Letter (Stating that the candidate is not a prior scholarship holder). 
  7. Passport Size Photographs
