About Oil Merit Scholarship

The Oil India Limited firm has introduced a new programme to support children of oil employees, including children of non-oil employees who live in oil operating regions and are enrolled in classes 10th and 12th, with financial aid in order to encourage them to pursue further education. Students who qualify for the Oil Merit Scholarship will also get a number of other incentives. Eligibility Criteria for Oil Merit Scholarship

  • Students from schools and colleges in oil-producing areas achieve above 95% marks in the HSLC, AISSE, ICSE, HSSLC, AISSC, and ISC exams.
  • Students who attend college and school in the traditional manner will still be eligible.
  • The applicant’s age should not exceed thirty. 
  • While SC and ST category students are receiving a 5-year relaxation, OBC category students have received a 3-year relaxation.
  • Age restrictions for people with disabilities are relaxed by 10 years.
  • Scholarships earmarked for SC, ST, and OBC students make up 49.5% of all scholarships.
  • Girls are eligible for 25% of the scholarships.
  • 10% of awards are meant for students with disabilities.
  • Students are not permitted to obtain any other scholarships, following the rules established by the Oil India Scholarship.
  • After six months, students will be given their scholarship money by their principal and the head of their school or college.

Oil Merit Scholarship Eligibility of Marks for Oil Employees’ Children Category 

Class X – State Boards / CBSE / ICSE / Others Reserve (SC, ST, OBC, MOBC, PWD): 80% / General: 85%
Class XII – State Boards / CBSE / ICSE / Others Reserve (SC, ST, OBC, MOBC, PWD): 80% / General: 85%

Additionally, The OIL Merit Scholarship is available to students who have passed their class X and XII exams and who attend schools or colleges in the states of Assam, Tinsukia, Lohit, Charaidev, Sivasagar, and Dibrugarh, which are all OIL operations regions.

Students pursuing professional courses can apply for 600 scholarships (300 each for engineering, medicine, and business administration). Based on “the number of students who appeared for the 12th Standard examination during 2023–2024,” scholarships will be distributed across the four zones of North, South, East, and West.

Oil Merit Scholarship Benefit Amount

  • Scholarships were awarded to ITI, 10th, and 12th-grade students in 2000. In order to qualify for this, students in the general category must score 65%, SC and OBC females must score 60%, and applicants with physical disabilities must score 50%. in 10th grade.
  • Engineering: These students get 300 Oil India Scholarships, and in order to qualify, they must meet the following requirements: in the 12th grade, students in the general category must score 65%; in the ST, SC, and OBC girls category, the score is 60%; and moreover, 50% of the candidates must have a physical disability.
  • MBBS: In order to qualify for the 200 scholarships, students must score at least 65% in the general category on their 12th-grade exams, 60% in the ST, SC, or OBC categories, and 50% in the physical disability category.
